Electricity North West is a British electricity distribution network operator, responsible for the administration and maintenance of the network that distributes electricity throughout the North West of England. Electricity North West are responsible for networking and upgrading 13,000 km of overhead power lines and more than 44,000 km of underground electricity cables.
Electricity identified a need to modernise their print infrastructure, and realised that by consolidating all of their print requirements to a single supplier they could achieve substantial benefits across their sites including lower costs, increased efficiency and improved service levels.
Apogee worked with Electricity North West to understand their requirements and analyse their existing fleet across various locations in the north. In doing so, we were able to provide a bespoke service agreement tailored to Electricity North West’s needs.
The agreement was a blended Samsung-HP solution which including the delivery and installation of over 70 printers and MFDs across 13 sites in the north of England. Best-of-breed software which was identified as requirements was also implemented into Electricity North West’s print operations.
Firstly, by consolidating all of their print requirements to a single supplier, Electricity North West now benefits from higher service levels and greater efficiencies. For example, Apogee delivers toner just-in-time for all devices at all sites, and likewise if any problems occur for any device Apogee are on-hand to quickly resolve them and minimise downtime.
Electricity North West’s new fleet of modern devices are more reliable and have eliminated previous operational issues, allowing the company to reduce downtime and maximise productivity.
The Samsung and HP devices have the capacity and capability to provide for all of Electricity North West’s requirements. Moreover, the PaperCut print monitoring software now delivers complete visibility of throughput across all networked devices by user levels, which helps to strengthen governance and control over who produces what, meaning users and now accountable for their own print volumes.
By incorporating print management software, Electricity North West have significantly been able to reduce print wastage and costs by identifying and eliminating unnecessary printing. What’s more, FollowMe printing has further driven efficiencies and modernised operations by allowing users to release their print job from any enabled output device.
