We are seeking a Junior Lawyer based in our European Headquarters in Kent (currently remote working) to join our legal team. This is a varied and interesting role where you will assist and work with the Head of Legal and other legal team members to deliver the day-to-day legal advice to the business and ensure compliance with key legal requirements.
This will include drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts with key clients and partners, providing legal advice and support to our sales teams and assisting with legal matters across a wide range of disciplines including commercial, public sector, data protection, employment and intellectual property.
Responsibilities
Negotiating, drafting and advising on contracts, including bespoke customer agreements and agreements of variation to standard terms of business, supplier contracts, non-disclosure agreements, data processing agreements, sub-contract agreements, deeds of novation, powers of attorney, SaaS agreements, trading agreements and confidentiality letters
Working directly with internal and external clients in the contract negotiation process, ensuring that the Company complies with laws, business processes and guidelines
Advising the business any on important legal issues and developments it may face including privacy, intellectual property, employment and regulatory
Managing external solicitors and counsel as appropriate
Managing and supporting the internal debt recovery litigation lifecycle from the point it is passed from the credit control team
Provide advice on high value customer disputes, including corresponding with customers and their lawyers, attending customer meetings, mediations and court hearings
Providing support and advice to HR as required on specific legal queries associated with employees, TUPE etc. As required conducting any claims in the Employment Tribunal liaising internally and with any externally instructed lawyers. Additionally draft and negotiate when requested by HR, Employee Settlement Agreements.
Person Specification
Qualification: LPC (commenced or completed) or recent qualification as a Solicitor
Experience: Previous in-house experience, ideally in a busy commercial environment
Experience over a wide range of legal disciplines to a proficient level
Strong interpersonal, organisational, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a simple and commercial manner.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines.
Ability to work independently but know when to escalate matters to the Head of Legal
Is able to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
