Getting to know our runners…

  1. What inspired you to run in the London marathon?

I love to run and the London Marathon has always been at the top of my bucket list.

  1. What is your running experience to date?

I started running around four years ago but only started taking it more seriously last year after I joined my local running club. I have taken part in several half marathons and I have been gradually building up the mileage ever since. London will be my first full Marathon!

  1. What is your best sporting achievement so far?

Completing my first half marathon. To achieve something I never expected to be capable of was such a great feeling.

  1. Do you have any pre or post run rituals?

I eat an hour before I intend to run to make sure I am fully fuelled. Post run I stretch and foam roll.

  1. Have you changed your diet since you started training?

#alwayshungry –I am having to snack in between meals and eat more carbs.

  1. What sporting challenge would you love to take on?

The London Marathon has always been at the top of my list but prior to getting my place I was been looking into running the Amsterdam and Paris marathon events. Maybe next year.

Getting to know our runners…

  1. What inspired you to run in the London marathon?

I think it was mainly inspired by wine at the summer boat party. Seemed a great idea at the time!

I run once or twice a week and have done various events up to Half marathon distance and a Tough Mudder.

  1. What is your best sporting achievement so far?

I think my best achievement is probably my 5k PB, it took me a long time to shave the seconds off to get sub 20 mins (Pool and Fishing don’t count right?)

  1. Do you have any pre or post run rituals?

No, I really should stretch more though apparently.

  1. Have you changed your diet since you started training?

Not really, maybe trying to be a little more healthy than usual

Getting to know our runners…

  1. What inspired you to run in the London marathon?

The first time I watched the marathon on TV aged about 9, I said that I would love to run it when I was older. Now I’m older and actually started running, the idea of taking part has been like an itch that won’t go away, this is a great opportunity to fulfill that dream.

  1. What is your running experience to date?

I took up running in 2016, in a bid to get fit, starting at my local Parkrun in Poole, I have now completed over 125 Parkruns. Very quickly, I signed up for my first 10K in that same year and have now done several 10K events and my first half marathon last year.

  1. What is your best sporting achievement so far?

Half marathon at the Poole festival of running, 2019. I had a goal of finishing under 2 hours and managed 1:55.

  1. Do you have any pre or post run rituals?

Pre – probably checking my laces far too many times and post – uploading the run to Strava as quickly as possible, if it’s not on Strava, it didn’t happen!

  1. Have you changed your diet since you started training?

Not really, I am very much enjoying the fact that I can pretty much eat what I like at the moment, as the calories are being burnt in the training runs!

  1. What sporting challenge would you love to take on?

I would love to one day improve my swimming and possibly try a triathlon (entry level).

Quick-fire round…

  1. Morning or Evening runs? Evening
  2. Dream marathon venue / location? Is there an Antigua marathon?
  3. Favourite sporting movie? Chariots of Fire
  4. Who’s your sporting hero? Arnold Schwarzenegger
  5. Cheesiest song on your running playlist? Madness – Driving in My Car
  6. First meal after you cross the finish line? Veggie burger and lots of fries!
