FIERY

document workflow

A Fiery is a hardware device that translates networked print data into output device format. When users send t a print job to a printer, MFD, MFP or photocopier, their workstation will translate the job into a common data format via a small software application called a print driver. This data then reaches the output device and needs to be translated again into data that the specific device understands which is invariably in a raster format. Raster data is a left to right, one line at a time format comprised in a similar fashion to the way we would fill up a page of text were we writing it.

This translation to a raster format can be very resource hungry and as such the processers that perform this conversion have to be powerful devices. These processers are known as RIPs (raster image processors) and Fiery make RIP’s specifically for environments where high quality graphic output is required.

Due to their advanced processing ability and colour matching capabilities, Firey RIPs are common within the professional print and graphic arts industries.

Apogee have a wide range of digital photocopiers, printers, MFD and MFP designed specifically to work with Fiery RIPs.
