ENTERPRISE FAX
For many years the sending of data by fax machine (full name facsimile machine) has been a common process in almost every business. Whilst the core technology and method of transmitting image data via phone lines has not changed much for several years, advances in computer telephony integration (CTI) have allowed the introduction of enterprise faxing – a fax solution in which all fax transmissions within a business are routed through a central point for improved efficiency, reduced cost and stronger control.
In it’s most basic form, an enterprise fax solution is simply a hardware device combining a direct connection to phone lines and software applications. Users then send their fax data either by means of a scanned original document (via a photocopier, MFD or similar) or as an electronic document from their workstation.
The enterprise fax solution has rules and routing information within it allowing it to manage the transmission of multiple faxes according to the parameters set by the business.
