ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
An electronic document management solution, or EDM solution, is a software application that allows users to store electronic documents in a structured format for easy retrieval. To enable searching and filtering of the stored documents, EDM solutions allow the users to attach information to the files regarding it’s content. This additional information is called Meta Data and its complexity can be tailored to suit each individual business or even each individual user.
Many EMD systems now have a direct interface to hardware scanning devices such as multi-functional products, photocopiers, MFD, MFP etc. This is to improve the efficiency of capturing hard copy documents and is often achieved through additional solutions such as eCopy or Digi Doc Flow.
