DRIVER-LESS PRINTING
In legacy document solutions users have to “connect” to their chosen output device (MFD or MFP, photocopier etc) by means of a small piece of software known as a driver (print driver, scanner driver). This system is long established and works well for business users based in fixed locations even if they jump from office to office.
Driver less printing is an emerging technology that allows users to connect to the output device directly and print without the need to install additional software which often requires a specific expertise to achieve.
Either through use of a web based interface leveraging traditional “cabled” technology or through the now firmly established wireless (wi-fi) and Bluetooth connections users can simply send their print requests directly to the printer, photocopier or MFD on an ad-hoc basis.
