DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
DM or EDM (Electronic Document Management) solutions involve the process of storing and sharing electronic data in a structured storage system normally complete with additional information about the content of each document that allows for fast and easy search and retrieval. The additional data held along side the actual document is known as meta data and almost all EDM document management systems index the meta data to allow the user to search and filter on it’s contents.
Advanced document management systems generally include some form of advanced document workflow allowing the meta data to be populated automatically at the time of scanning or creation (see additional links below).
Modern digital document solutions hardware, such as MFD, photocopiers and MFP, have the processing capability to provide an interface directly into the document management system through their embedded touch screen devices vastly improving document workflow efficiency.
